WE ALL HAVE BEEN THERE!! WITH DIVING FOR GOLD IT IS A REAL PROBLEM AS WATER QUALITY IS A PROBLEM.
HERE IS A FEW QUICK FIXES:

Doctor at Yreaka, Ca told me to use 70% rubbing alchol and white vinegar mixed 50/50. Basically same as Swimmers Ear" off the shelf. Use at end of day after dredging. Tip head and pour into ear. Should hear sort of a "goosh" as it hits bottom. Also pull ear lobe up and around in a circular motion to insure full penetration of external ear canal. Leave in for few seconds and then pour out. Alcohol dilutes water/helps dry canal out. Vinegar (acid) kills bacteria. Don't use q-tips or similar prods. This stuff also helps clear water out of ear if you got some stuck in there after short term swimming. If you are a dredger or in water lot every day, you should use something like this. Cheaper and less painful than a good ear infection!

I dredged for twenty+ years and used straight hydrogen peroxide every dredging day (3%) as it comes off the shelf at the drug store...Never ever developed a single case of dredger's ear.
